First Cyborg Olympics Will Take Place in October

While the Olympics and Paralympics are against its competitors using technological and motorized enhancements, the upcoming cyborg Olympics is doing the opposite and encouraging people with disabilities to use it. Officially known as the Cybathlon, the event won’t place an emphasis on amazing physical feats like completing the high jump or the 400-meter, but will instead focus on smaller, seemingly mundane tasks like climbing stairs or slicing loaves of bread. Robert Riener, the event’s organizer and a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, told IEEE Spectrum the Cybathlon is “less about force and speed, and more about control of the body and the device.” The cycling race, for example, will have its paraplegic competitors using electrical stimulation to move their legs. Meanwhile, amputees with powered arm prosthetics will have to open jars of jams; those with leg prosthetics must walk across stepping-stones. Riener says the cyborg Olympics are a result of his own

Wentworth Miller's Humbling Response to Fat-Shaming Meme

A photo of Wentworth Miller, who plays Captain Cold on DC Comics’ Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash, went viral recently for all the wrong reasons — and Miller had a touching response to it. The meme compares two photos of Miller—one shirtless from the actor’s run on Prison Break, and another, from years later. It’s captioned with “When you break out of prison and find out about McDonald’s monopoly.” In a heartfelt post on Miller’s Facebook page, the actor explained the photo. Wentworth Miller In 2010, when the actor had “semi-retired” from acting, Miller found himself in the “lowest point in [his] adult life.” During that time, he turned to food for comfort. “There were stretches when the highlight of my week was a favorite meal and a new episode of Top Chef,” he said. “Sometimes that was enough. Had to be.” And because of it, he put on

Wrestling Wrap Up: Shane Soars on Last RAW Before WrestleMania

We’re less than a week out from WrestleMania 32 here in DFW (I used “here” because I’m here in DFW so it’s “here”) and we got our final taste of WWE programming leading us into the big event. The Go-Home RAW. Which at times was Go-Home AF. And then other times it was all “This is all you got? What a bunch of mule gunk!” That opening segment though… Shane tapping into vintage classic retro daredevil suicidal Shane and hitting that flying elbow drop on Taker and busting up the announce table was hot hot hot! Not only making my jealous of Shane’s leaping ability, but – as usual – his clothes. And now…his abs. Basically I left the segment feeling like sizzling garbage, but it was worth it. Also, I like how the initial fighting words here, that caused Shane to walk down to the ring from the stage,
